Alan Macdonald joined Jackson Boyd in 2008. He is currently the firm’s managing partner and was appointed to this role in 2017.
Alan has over 20 years of experience representing clients across a wide range of personal injury matters. He has appeared on behalf of clients in sheriff courts throughout Scotland. He also has significant experience in the Court of Session. He is ranked as a leading individual by Chambers and Partners for 2026.
Alan also serves on the firm’s management board, where he plays a key role in shaping business strategy, driving innovation, and ensuring operational excellence across all departments. He has oversight of compliance, risk and regulatory matters. His dual focus on legal practice and firm management allows him to maintain high standards of client service while fostering a progressive, collaborative workplace culture.
His leadership ensures that Jackson Boyd remains agile, client-focused, and aligned with the evolving demands of the Scottish legal landscape.
