The Role of Rehabilitation in your Personal Injury Claim

At Jackson Boyd, we know that rehabilitation is a crucial part of your personal injury or medical negligence claim.

Regardless of the severity of your injury and symptoms, it allows you access to specialist medical treatment and rehabilitation support which will help ease your situation and increase the compensation awarded to you.

Rehabilitation, such as physiotherapy or psychological treatment like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is available on the NHS which you can access yourself. However there are often lengthy waiting lists meaning it can be a while before you will receive any treatment.

A wide range of specialist rehabilitation therapies are also available on a private basis, including acupuncture, massage therapy, osteopathy, chiropractic treatments and psychological treatment. Treatment can be expensive, but we can include this treatment cost as part of your claim and allow you access to the help you need immediately.

Once we find out what’s important to you and what you want to achieve from your rehabilitation programme, we will liaise with the organisation or party against whom you are claiming and call upon them to provide you with a course of treatments at their cost. This can be done when your solicitor has obtained an admission of liability from them – when they agree that they are responsible for the accident in which you have been injured and will therefore pay you compensation for the injuries and losses you have sustained. We are also able to arrange our rehabilitation treatment with our own treatment providers, meaning that you can be seen immediately and without any waiting around.

At Jackson Boyd we’ve seen how rehabilitation makes an enormous difference to the lives of our clients. Our expert solicitors work with medical experts, support groups and care providers to help you get the care and rehabilitation you need.
